Sonido Criminal is part of the new generation of the Hard Core Salsa movement. Sonido Criminal was founded in 2006 by Carlos Mojica (lead singer, sonero, song writer) born in Paterson, NJ to Puerto Rican parents.
Although young, Carlos was influenced by soneros such as Ismael Rivera, Hector Lavoe, Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez, Tito Allen, Ray De La Paz, Ismael Quintana, Chamaco Ramirez and Justo Betancourt. Carlos began singing at the age of 15, gaining his experience by singing with local bands and later on sharing the stage with various artists including Ismael Miranda, Brenda K Starr, Luisito Carrion, Hector Tricoche, Lalo Rodriguez, Tito Puente Jr and Johnny Polanco Y Su Conjunto Amistad (one of LA's top salsa bands).
